I am about to do a kitchen renovation and am contemplating a warming drawer. I think it would be very handy a few times a year but am not sure how much I'd use it on a regular basis (my kids are basically gone from home so it's just the two of us). Does anyone undergo an opinion one way or the other and is there a use for them other than the obvious that I am missing? I evaluate I've heard they are good for bread rising?
my range came with an oven and a warming drawer. I use the drawer to keep food warm and to heat plates for those few times I remember to. There are only 2 of us too. I would use it more if I had more parties or cooked more for bigger groups. It's a nice little luxury. Mine doesn't undergo a temp readout just hi to low. High seems too hot for bread rising. I have never tried it for that.
We renovated our kitchen this year and thought about getting one. Everyone we talked to that had one said they hardly ever used it. Since the one to match our ovens was over $800 we decided to lower the ovens and put a cabinet with tray dividers above. We figure we can use the second oven to change things.
We just built a new house and got a warming drawer (ours is Viking). I actually have used it more than I ever thought I would. For instance the day our movers arrived we put delivery pizza in there to keep it warm until they were ready for a break and it worked really well (so if you get one make sure it's really wide). It also has a "moisture" control which can put water into the air so as to not dry things out which could come in handy around thanksgiving. I think. I haven't tried it with bread dough yet but I do plan on it. I was kind of "iffy" on whether we should get it but there was room and it didn't add too much to the overall cost so we went for it. I would do it again in a heartbeat. That said we have a pretty large kitchen and two ovens. If space were an issue. I would choose two ovens over a warming drawer but it is useful (even for just two people). And it's great for warming plates (something I never did before).
I am a definite YES on the warming drawer. There are only two of us and I opted for the largest one I could find and thrilled that I did. If you train yourself to turn it on when you enter the kitchen each evening it ordain become automatic after a while - you'll find uses for it you never dreamed. I keep a small stone tile in mine that lines the breadbasket for our dinners. I use it for platter bowl & plate warming like everyone else (dishes go straight from the dishwasher into the WD) also bread dough when I'm not making the No-Knead bread. I love it for having the whole meal ready at the same time when we have weekend guests who'll eat breakfast at different times. I do slow-roasted standing rib roasts that acquire from a lengthy "hold" period and this is the perfect sight. Since I also have two large ovens this is a huge luxury for two people although we entertain frequently. Two thumbs up way up!
If you end to include a warming drawer in your remodel put it in an accessible place that you ordain use. I've seen them in all sorts of odd spots usually just off the floor where I would never use one. Bizarre placement that shrieks "I had some extra room here and didn't know what else to do but I can say I undergo a warming drawer". Boo.
NB: if I were going for over-the-top luxe. I'd put another one in the bathroom and use it for clean towels!
Thanks for reminding me that I have one! Mine is the bottom of my be and I hold on a large roaster in there. It would go in handly expecially if I can find a good place for my roaster.

was: $159.99sale: $99.99-$10.00 (automatic discount)Items Total: $89.99 Standard Shipping: $35.95 Shipping/Delivery Discount: -$37.97 Est. Pre-tax Total: $87.97 Shipped
Quick Summary is created and edited by users like you... Add FAQ's. Links and other Relevant Information by clicking the edit add in the lower right hand corner of this communicate.
Just a heads up... I saw that in the store and the chest is a piece of junk. And I'm just comparing it to my basic sub-$200 tool chest.
For the determine it's not horrible but most people who would actually use a tool chest wouldn't find a use for this...
Was thinking about getting one but according to reviews on that link it looks desire it is around $100 pretty often although it is $10 cheaper now. Also they said that it appears to get beat up during shipping and isn't packed come up they recommend you buy it in hold on or at least get it shipped there and inspect it there since the box weighs 60 pounds and would be difficult to return. I'm not threadcrapping just giving some info if anybody else is thinking about buying it. I myself am still on the fence about this one.
has this for a doorbuster on Black Friday for 80 dollars.. it has a nostalgia Craftsmen emblem on it. Picked up one of these a few days ago during the F and F sale had for 80 bucks. This is a great broach (even at 90 dollars) for this chest BUT it is more for a hobbyist or someone who uses light to medium charge tools in their hobby... it is not for a adjust mechanic and their heavy tools those tools require ball bearing sliders. This fits in very well for home organization rather then garage organization.
I am not a big fan of any of the anniversary tools they are all a step drink from heat's standard version and way below the professional verion of the same drive. Before owned them they would add useless or something different but the quality never went down.
If I want cheap tools at a cheap determine I will start shopping at experience Freight.
OP either way 89.99 is a good broach for a top and bottom tool chest just does not be the craftsman badge.
The free bag is quite maim. I got one free over the weekend and I don't experience if I'll ever use it. Small and doesn't completely close so things can fall out the top if the bag tips over just a little fasten (i think)in the lay of the handles.
I had an eye on this chest and a 10" miter saw on black friday. Came approve from checking these items to decide if I want to get up early to buy them. Definitely I will pass up on the chest. It's made of very change state gauge brace. No wonder the reviews on com complained about shipping damages. This thing you can deform it by pushing it with your thumb! if it is banged during shipping surely it will twist and deform. $70 is not much for a chest but this cast aside you have to evaluate out a way to get rid of it later not worth it.
They don't undergo the chop saw for me to check it out but said they will have 3 to 4 units on BF. Anyone has experience with the saw: and It bothers me some reviewers said the command is very easy to break off.
It doesn't matter if the chest is a piece of egest if you're just going to keep odds and ends in it. For the coat and utility $100 isn't bad but Craftsman is always the safest bet imo when purchasing from.

So. Thom Yorke for a duet request. He is a Beatle but I comfort don’t accuse Yorke’s decision. What’s Paul done for you lately? Or in 20 years? The Starbucks record? Poor Paul had to comment on the rebuff publicly explaining how Yorke had said “he couldn’t because he only felt happy working on his own and Radiohead’s material.” Hmm. That seems desire a fair excuse except for the fact that Yorke gladly lent his express to PJ Harvey for her track “This eat We’re In” off 2000’s Stories from the City. Stories from the Sea not to mention his duet with Bjork on Selma Songs the soundtrack to Lars Von Trier’s ultra-chipper Dancer in the Dark. Surely. Yorke knew his forgive was thin at best. Or perhaps he’s made a resolution never to duet again. And if he won’t make an exception for a Beatle who’s got a shot?

it just has potholders a couple recipe books a recipe box a few tools a unify of scissors clothespins for closing bags duct tape masking tape a flashlight and a bag of rubber bands. It’s so nice!
That drawer had not been cleaned out in years. Anyway while little 2-year-old Bex was asleep. Maddie and I brought that drawer into the living room sat on the floor and started sorting out all kinds of junk! There were popsicle sticks paper clips toys baggie ties coupons for school–the ones off the cereal boxes lids keys cards arrange more tools magnets crayons chalk miscellaneous pieces of metal…including money!
Yeh when Maddie’s dad came to get her and little sister she showed him the money she had gotten and said. “And I didn’t undergo to do
it.” Actually she helped a lot. She had a good eye for seeing rubberbands paper clips etc and sorting them out.
Well she “earned” about 98 cents (about 17 coins) and was a happy girl.

My office desk drawer is stuck closed. It opens only an inch. It is on side sliders and there appears to be no way to access the sliders that be to catch on something inside the track.
Get a hanger and glide it in to see if something is stuck in there that may be easy to remove. That's my suggestion. good luck!
Good advice above! If you are having any trouble seeing anything or feeling around with something desire a hanger you also might want to use a flashlight and also one of those telescoping little go mirrors in request to see what is going on inside the drawer and also concerning the sliders.
TO be quite honest. I usually just pull that drawer really hard.. and stuff comes flying all over the place and what ever was holding that drawer shut usually gets broken but I desire the hanger idea much exceed.... There are some smart cookies hanging around here!
TO be quite honest. I usually just pull that drawer really hard.. and cram comes flying all over the place and what ever was holding that drawer change state usually gets broken but I like the hanger idea much exceed.... There are some smart cookies hanging around here!
Also depending on what write of desk it is... the coat tracks have little screws that direct them to the drawer close in... you may need to climb (hope you're limber) under the desk and see if there are any screws that have backed out... it doesn't take much backing out for them to block the drawer. However more than likely you have something stuck in there. Hope you may undergo gotten it change state by now though.. let us know please.
Why thank you... IRRITATING problems desire this one usually be a bit of humor to make you not want to conceal your face in a lay and emit... The funny thing is I was serious. That how I usually do it...
Just about every measure I've hit this it's been a copulate coming let go and jamming the glides. Open adjacent drawers if any be underneath if you can and see if you can get part of the glide unscrewed and act out the whole thing. Replace the screw with a longer one if you can otherwise attach glued toothpicks into the hole or move the location of the screw to another hit in the go.
Push and pull very rapidly to try to shake things away. That out of the way you might have to apply to some brass or steel shim from the hardware hold on. You be something that will change form and 1-2" wide. glide it in the gap to dislodge the offending whatever.
Obviously you can get much sophisticated results using a more serious visualise editing application but catch can do enough to get you the results you see above and since everyone has it. I thought it best to focus on using it despite its limitations.
go 1 clutch the 512x512 blank drawer visualise from the and save it somewhere (or right-click and deliver it from ). That will get you this (this version is resized drink so don't use it use the original):
go 2 Get another visualise that you be to kill onto the drawer. I'm naturally enough going to use the TUAW logo. Now I be my custom drawer to look something like the originals so that means we're going to need to remove the image from its background. Fortunately one of the great new features of Preview is "Instant Alpha." I selected the color background with the Instant Alpha tool (from the drop-down menu of the selection tool) being sure to get all the interiors as well. Then when I hit return and the background disappears like magic!
Step 3 (optional): Since I'm trying to remain consistent with the original drawers I decided to make the TUAW logo black rather than leaving it blue and green. One of the easiest ways to do this is change state up the Adjust Color panel and push the color and Black levels all the way over to the right and the saturation all the way over to the left. Of cover you can also compete with these to get whatever effect you want. Naturally if you were doing this in a more sophisticated visualise editor you could add gradients etc. Once you're finished write the visualise to the clipboard.
Step 4 Using Preview open the keep drawer PNG you got in go one. Paste the visualise from go 3 onto it move it around until you get it where you be it and and then save it.
go 5 comfort in catch write the image to the clipboard. In the FInder decide the folder you want to dress the icon of and Get Info (⌘-I). Select the folder icon at the top left of the Get Info pane and paste in your custom graphic. Voilà you're done!
Step 6 (optional): You can also alter your custom icon into a standard ICNS file using the Icon Composer from the Developer Tools. If you haven't already you'll be to lay those from the optional installs folder of your Leopard disc. Once you do so Icon Composer can be found at /Developer/Applications/Utilities. The Icon Composer lets you drop in a 512 x 512 visualise and automatically alter it to an IconsFileStore file. You can then merchandise it to an ICNS register.
Honestly. I'm wondering why Apple didn't do something like this right off the bat. The icons are absolutely gorgeous. The only issue I had with this technique is that the icon itself shows in the enumerate of the stack contents when it's expanded. Can anyone think of a way around this?
@2 Start reading the original go to find solutions to the icon in folder problem. As a matter of fact I also describe a method to keep an empty drawer on the dock when the stack is fanned (or gridded) out.
1) Wow. After two years of reading TUAW. I finally noticed and came to understand the logo. There's a "T" a "U",an "A" and a "W" in there. Interesting.2) I can't get copying a graphic and pasting into Get Info to bring home the bacon fully for me in Leopard. Sure it works enough to look nice in the lade but this procedure doesn't be to bear on the 512x512 coat graphic to the item. View the item in Cover move and draw Cover move to be really large. You'll just see a big black box. One then asks: after creating a real * icns file using Icon Composer in the Developer Tools -- clearly with all 5 sizes -- how do you bear on *this* to an item without copying/pasting into Get Info?
Optional tip that I enjoy: what I like to do is in the stack of choice (say Downloads) alter an alias of the folder and put it in the stack. So make an alias of Downloads that lives in Downloads. Then set it to undergo the drawer icon and make it always be at the top. Why? The "Go to this folder" option is moved from the end of the list (for fan believe at least) alter to the beginning! Which can be quite handy. The bad news is you get the little alias arrow over your drawer. But it's a fair trade in my schedule.
i am into improving my system but i think this may a little tedious im confident apple will either tweak/alter the dock or refeature it in a later patch.
Everything was great through step 5. I got it to show in finder as my icon but when I draw the folder into Stacks the drawer disappears. Does anyone experience how to fix this? Thanks.
5. 1) Wow. After two years of reading TUAW. I finally noticed and came to understand the logo. There's a "T" a "U",an "A" and a "W" in there. Interesting. Oh. My. God. HOLY CRAP!!!! I see that Frickin logo all the time AND JUST NOW I LEARN IT SAYS TUAW! Pretty well hidden if you ask me... tricky tricky!!!
I can get the icons provided to work as drawers in the stacks by placing them in the first lay in the register folder the stack represents. However when I make one using either catch or Photoshop there is a white accent that prevents the folders from showing through. In Photoshop. I did not form the image but merged the layers. If I paste the new icon into the Info icon area it's a little exceed as there's not a color accent but the drawer sits in front of the file folders rather than having them inside. It's a problem with the transparency--what am I missing here? I haven't yet installed the developer tools to create an icon format--though the bind says this should bring home the bacon anyway--but an icns from CocoaThumbs has the same color background problem. Any help will be much appreciated! Thanks,Mark S.
@13 Create a new folder (or write one of the icons from the "drawer pack" and do "get info" decide the icon in the upper alter and write and attach your newly created png file. It took me a couple of minutes to evaluate this out as well.
@ all: Thanks but strangely enough I don't see the catch tools (desire instant alpha) you all talking about. I do have leopard installed (belgium user). I even used the catch back up and looked for the tools no result... very frustrating.
Once you have created the png file you can use img2icns -> It will act the icns or directly a folder with the icon attached :DHope this helps a little
For some strange reason the new created folder in Cover move is invisible. And when I put in my come in I can see it but when I add a file it despairs. I have follow the steps and I'm not getting the final result!Jerry
@indiekidukI had to do a little bit of a cut to get the icon to be on top when sorting by Date Added. Here's what I did for my Downloads Stack:change state /Applications/AppleScript/Script Editor appPaste this into a new script window:--------------------------------on adding folder items to this_folder after receiving added_itemstell application "Finder"do bomb compose "mv /Users/userName/Downloads/Icon /Users/userName/Desktop/Icon"do shell compose "mv /Users/userName/Desktop/Icon /Users/userName/Downloads/Icon"end tellend adding folder items to-------------------------------Make sure to replace userName with the name of your home directory. Save this register in.
